'SoH 3' was shot with a Casio Exilim EX-Z75 on the video setting and edited in QuickTime and iMovie 08.  The sound was recorded with the Casio built-in mic.  It was originally shot in color, and the black and white high contrast look was created in post-production.  The intention was to reshoot the story in mini-DV, but I liked the immediate feel and no-budget look of the test footage and chose not to reshoot.  Sounds effects were created in GarageBand 08 with an M-Audio Key Rig 25 keyboard, and also by layering Apple Inc. stock effects.  The budget was $0.  This film was lost in computerland in 2009 and had to be completely restored from original footage.  Only slight changes to the titles were made so as not to disturb the original spontaneity of the piece.

The story

'SoH 3' was my first narrative, made by request for a small 2008 Halloween film festival in Wilmington NC.  When starting to think of horror microcinema with a looming deadline, three unrelated scary vignettes came to tmind.  But 'Scenes of Horror' 1 and 2 were passed over in favor of finishing up the third installment, which was already well-formed after doing a test shoot.  The film has no dialog or music, which was a conscious decision made after having had no success finding just the right mood music.  Spooky laughter, a step into another dimension, and invisible monsters are all there...or are they?
